NASH

SEVEN YEARS AGO ~ Walking zombie

Weeks and months have gone by and I’m trying to find my new norm. Well, as normal as it can be. I think about Nat all the time, but I know she’s better off this way.

The once Maison is now Liam and we have a new way to keep in touch. I had forced Jenkin's hand to bring him in once I was able to return to active duty. I don’t know why he took it upon himself to hide him, it wasn’t as though this was his case.

Sitting at my desk, I’m going through a stack of files trying to piece the puzzle pieces together. I’m following up on some leads on the possible head guy of the drug ring. The only problem is, something doesn’t feel right. Everything leads to one guy, but he isn’t smart enough for this. It feels off, but I’m getting pressure to put this case to bed. My thoughts are interrupted when my phone rings.

“Nash.”

“Hey Nash, it’s Walker.”

Walker is the closest thing to a best friend. He’s been there whenever I’ve needed him. He’s still watching Nat, whenever he has the chance.

“Is there a problem with Nat?”

“Nah, she’s good. I wanted to talk to you about something. Do you have time for a drink after work?”

“Yeah, sure. Is everything alright?”

“Yes, I just don’t want any other ears listening to what I want to talk to you about.” His voice is quiet.

“You have me intrigued.”

“Good. I need to do something to get you out of that damn motel.”

Letting out a sigh, I drop my head.

“Look, Nash. I know you think you are doing the right thing with Nat, but I think you’re wrong. No one can watch her better...”

“Walker, if this is why you wanted to meet up with me tonight, I can beat myself up on my own without your help in the comfort of my crappy motel room.”

“No, man. This could be big. It has to do with a mutual patient. Meet me at Bennies at six-thirty and I’ll buy the first round.”

“See you there.”
